The appellant was extradited from Portugal in November 2005 after the Government of India gave a solemn sovereign assurance in December 2002 that he would not face the death penalty or imprisonment exceeding 25 years. He was convicted by the TADA Court and sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment on 25th February 2015 (TADA Case No. 1 of 2006) and again on 7th September 2017 (BBC Case No. 1 of 1993), the latter sentence to run concurrently.…
