JUDGMENT: J U M N T .P. JEEVAN REDDY, J. Cardozo, J. had once exclaimed: "The precedents have turn upon us and they are engulfing and annihilating us, engulfing and annihilating the very devotees that worshipped at their shrine". We were inclined to repeat his observation after hearing this matter, a feeling which will be borne out as the judgment proceeds. The matter arises under the Indian Income Tax Act, 1922 (hereinafter referred to as "1992 Act").
